About us
The Book Art Center, established in 2012, is the first Georgian organization dedicated to the development of book art. Our work includes education in various disciplines related to book art, illustration, and design, as well as creative and publishing projects. We are also involved in organizing public events to promote Georgian book art both nationally and internationally.
Through our educational program, we have organized and conducted over 150 international workshops, masterclasses, and lectures, with participation from more than 300 emerging and established artists from Georgia and abroad. Our creative initiatives have led to the production of nearly 150 illustrated, handmade, art, and photo books in our workshop.
We have hosted numerous exhibitions of Georgian book art and illustration, including participation in international fairs and festivals in Tbilisi, Leipzig, Frankfurt, Saarbrücken, Kyiv, Krasnoyarsk, and Bologna. Books created at our center have been published in Georgia, Brazil, Turkey, Switzerland, Japan, and Germany. From 2014 to 2017, we initiated and curated a large-scale international festival "Tbilisi Book Days," dedicated to book art and illustration. We also launched the first Georgian Picture Book Idea Competition, the Georgian Photo Book Award, and the Best-Designed Georgian Books Award.
For our contributions to the development of Georgian children's illustration, the Book Art Center was nominated for the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in both 2015 and 2016, representing Georgia on the international stage.
